“11 Reasons Why Dehydration is Making You Fat and Sick.”

To get more information on balancing the body, visit http://tracy.mynsp.com

Fatigue

Water is the most vital sources of energy in the body. dehydration causes the enzymatic activity in the body to slow down, resulting in tiredness and fatigue.

Asthma and Allergies

When dehydrated, your body will restrict airways as a means to conserve water. In fact, the rate of histamine produced by the body increases exponentially as the body loses more water.

High Blood Pressure

The blood is normally about 92% water when the body is fully hydrated. When dehydrated, the blood becomes thicker causing resistance to blood flow, which results in elevated blood pressure.

High Cholesterol

When the body is dehydrated, it will produce more cholesterol to prevent water loss from the cells.

Skin disorders

Dehydration impairs the elimination of toxins through the skin and makes it more vulnerable to all types of skin disorders, including dermatitis and psoriasis, as well as premature wrinkling and discoloration.

Digestive Disorders

A shortage of water and alkaline minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, can lead to a number of digestive disorders, including ulcers, gastritis and acid reflux

Bladder or Kidney Problems

With a dehydrated body, the accumulation of toxins and acid waste creates an environment where bacteria thrive, resulting in the bladder and kidney to be more prone to infection, inflammation and pain.

Constipation

When short of water, the colon is one of the primary regions the body draws water from in order to provide fluids for other critical body functions. Without adequate water, wastes move through the large intestines much more slowly or sometimes not at all, resulting in constipation.

Joint Pain or Stiffness

All joints have cartilage padding which is composed mainly of water. When the body is dehydrated, cartilage is weakened and joint repair is slow resulting in pain and discomfort.

Weight Gain

When dehydrated, cells are depleted of energy. As a result people tend to eat more when, in reality, the body is thirsty.

Premature Aging

When chronically dehydrated, the body’s organs, including its largest organ, the skin, begins to wrinkle and wither prematurely.

5 ‘Healthy’ Practices That Slow Down Your Metabolism, We dont want that?? Do we??

5 ‘Healthy’ Practices That Slow Down Your Metabolism, We dont want that?? Do we??

sloth metabolism
There are many healthy trends out there that can unknowingly cause harm. And a lot of those “healthy” things you’re doing now could also be slowing down your metabolism.

1. You’ve completely cut out carbohydrates

High protein diets have been a trend for a long time lately. And for good reason. Many studies show that a low-carb diet is good for weight management. But for overall health, cutting out carbs can hurt your body, especially if you’re exercising regularly. When you exercise, your muscles demand glycogen from carbohydrates stored in your body. Low glycogen levels will sap your energy and you won’t be able to exercise well. And, you’ll burn fewer calories because your body won’t require as much energy to recover.
I like the Bill Phillips suggestion of having a serving of complex carbohydrates (about the size of your fist) for every meal.

2. You’re bad at snacking

walnutRice cakes are low calorie. That doesn’t make rice cakes a good snack, however. Eat snacks high in fat, like nuts. Plyunsaturate fatty acids in nuts may enhance the activity of certain genes that control fat burning, according to The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Avoid snacks like pretzels, most commercial yogurt that’s full of sugar, trail mix with added chocolate, candy and sugar, soda, any refined sugars, pudding cups, cheese crackers, etc.
So, while things like nuts are high calorie, your body will respond better than eating low-nutrient dense snacks like rice cakes and crackers.
dairy

3. No dairy

This one is going to be controversial. Many of you reading this are probably yelling at the screen saying you should never eat dairy. Ever.
But dairy has a few nutrients that are great for fat burning. It has CLA, calcium and whey. Conjugated Linoleic Acid is a natural fatty acid that is important to the body. CLA has several unique structural and functional properties. It modulates cellular processes, including the maintenance of muscle mass and lipolysis. CLA has also been shown to be effective for maintaining normal cholesterol levels and supporting the immune system. It can help modify body composition by sustaining lean muscle tissue and enhancing lipolysis (the burning of fat), resulting in a number of health and weight benefits. CLA is a patented ingredient for fat reduction.
Calcium may also help the bodies’ natural fat burning process function more efficiently.
“At midlife, women tend to gain one-quarter to one-half a pound per year whether they want it or not, and it all goes to their waist,” says Robert Heaney, MD, an internationally recognized expert in bone biology and calcium nutrition with Creighton University in Nebraska.
“We’ve found that women with the highest dairy intake have an average weight gain of zero, and those with the lowest dairy intake gained a pound per year,” Heaney tells WebMD.
In studies of both mice and men, Michael Zemel, PhD, director of The Nutrition Institute at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, was one of the first to show that calcium stored in fat cells plays a crucial role in regulating how fat is processed and stored by the body. The more calcium there is in a fat cell, the more fat the cell will burn — and the greater the weight loss, Zemel  says
“Calcium provides small increases in thermogenesis, the body’s core temperature,” Zemel explains. “This may boost metabolism, which can prompt our bodies to burn fat.
“If weight loss is your goal, eat three servings of fat-free or low-fat dairy products every day, he advises.
“But cardiologists (heart specialists) may not like this advice: Whole-fat milk works even better in a weight-loss plan, says Heaney. “In fact, whole-fat milk has a satiety value so you naturally won’t eat so much. A high-carbohydrate diet leaves you feeling hungry all the time.”

4. Restricting salt

Salt is bad, says everyone. That statement is usually made because people load up salt with heavily processed foods. Salt (and especially the iodine) may help to:
  • Naturally increases your metabolic rate.
  • Support stress.
  • Encourage healthy levels of oxytocin.
Just be careful of this one that you get the right amount of salt — not too little and not too much.
water drink

5. Drinking too much water

Now, hydration is one of the best things you can do for your body.
With that said, you can go overboard with the water bottles. Drinking 8 glasses a day may not be right for you. Listen to your body, and drink when you’re thirsty. How much water you need every day depends on a lot of factors, like:
    • Your body weight. Heavier people usually need more water.
    • Your diet. Are you already eating a lot of water-based foods?
    • Your activity level. Are you sweating every day? Are you moving all day for work? Are you sitting at a desk all day? All those things go into play about how much water you should drink.
    • The average temperature. Are you hot or cold wherever you are? You may need more or less water depending on the climate.
    • Are you getting enough minerals
Being hydrated is not just about liquid. If you’re craving more taste than just water, you may need something else to help get more sodium, magnesium or potassium or other minerals. Our Solstic options are a great way to fortify your water. Also try the Ionic Minerals one of my favorites.

Conclusion: Your health is not a health trend

Don’t just assume that because there is a health trend out there that it’s right for you. Listen to your body and get balance in your nutrition and balance with what works for you. if you need help contact me I would be happy to help you!

8 Exercises to Strengthen Knees and Joints

8 exercises to strengthen knees and joints
Keeping healthy knees and joints is an important component for overall health.
The 3 most common areas of knee injury are:
    1. IT Band: The IT band runs from the pelvis to the knee, and helps stabilize the knee during physical activity.
    2. ACL: The anterior crucial ligament is one of the most commonly torn.
    3. Meniscus: This absorbs shock and protects the knee joint from impact.
Keeping the muscles that support healthy knees strong can help general health. Here are 7 exercises that will help support already healthy knees and joints..

Exercise 1: Stretching

Stretching is particularly important for the iliotibial (IT) band which runs down the outside of the thigh from the hip to the shin and attaches at the knee. The IT bank helps stabilize and move the joint. You can stretch it by standing with the left foot crossed over the other, arms above your head, then lean as far as you can to the left without bending your knee. Then switch legs and lead the other way.

Exercise 2: Lunges

lunge betterLunges are intended to increase flexibility and build muscle strength in the muscles of your quadriceps.
According to a Huffing Post article on how to perform the perfect lunge, you should:
  • Keep your knees aligned, front knee over your shoe and back knee pointing down.
  • Watch yourself lunge with a side-view mirror.
  • Keep your knees, hips and shoulders all facing in same direction — forward.
  • Think about how you are distributing your body weight.

Exercise 3: Step-ups

Step ups (where you stand in front of a step or raised surface, and practice stepping up onto it with one foot, and then the other) can help to strengthen the hamstrings. Here’s a video from Live Strong on how to perform a step-up correctly:

Exercise 4: Cycling

This low-impact exercise option can support the knee to achieve a range of motion movement, and strengthen the muscles in the leg.

Exercise 5: Squats

Squats strengthen glutes, which in turn supports healthy knees. When doing squats keep your knees bent and your back straight. How to correctly do a squat:

Exercise 6: Jumping rope with bent knees

First of all, jump roping is a serious exercies that can challenge the most muscle-ripped of all legs. But it’s also a great exercise for the beginner. Jump in front of a mirror if you can, to check your form. You should be landing with slightly bent knees so as not to put too much pressure on your joints. Practicing landing with slightly bent knees can help strengthen the joints and may help improve knee health. Here’s how to jump rope like a pro:

Exercise 7: Leg lifts

There are many ways to do this exercise. If you are ever sitting throughout the day, sit in a chair, put a foam roller or towel under your knees, and lift your leg, holding for a few seconds, then switch legs. Do several repetitions. Here’s another technique:

Exercise 8: Yoga

Low impact activities, like Yoga, are great for overall strength and to support strength and health.
The more you strengthen the muscles surrounding your already healthy knees and other joints, the healthier your knees will be. Go here to look at joint supporting supplements:  http://tracy.mynsp.com

From Devin Burns, this guy is great! So I was chillin with Fabio yesterday at a Whole Foods in Newport Beach, and the guy (still) looks great! And he shared some of his knowledge with me so I could share it with you. His TWO biggest ‘secrets’ to looking and feeling great no matter his age: 1. Workout 2. Eat real food I know, mindblowing stuff right? Listen it’s no secret, there is no magic pill, no magic cream. It’s called work hard and eat smart. And holy smokes does Fabio know his stuff when it comes to nutrition and how the body responds to good food vs the food that is readily available on every corner that is literally garbage. Fabio was really straight forward when I asked him what foods he would never eat ‘If you eat any foods with chemicals that have been processed, they are no longer able to be absorbed by the body, then the body is like a dirty wall.’ Of course all that said with a very sexy accent:) Train hard and eat smart!

Eating only salad to lose weight is this truly healthy?

No, it's not I have a friend here that thinks by eating nothing but salad she's helping herself.  Well she is losing weight from what I can tell but she refuses to eat protein. Protein isn't just meat, lots of different forms to choose from, fish, beans lots.

I tried explaining, your losing your muscle too and when you get older welllllll guess what,
What the heck is gonna burn the fat?
You have no muscle or way less! Your gonna turn into a blooob.

Oh we'll what do you do. Just let her learn for herself. I have a hard time keeping muscle so I'm not giving up any of mine lol!
Hopefully she'll realize before its too late since she won't listen to me I guess I'll just sit and wait until she asks me.
Love my life.
