Hot Flashes ...

If you happen to be among the women who suffer severe hot flashes, try some of these tips for gaining relief:
Try to be at the ideal weight: When you carry too much weight, hot flashes are more severe.
Turn up the AC: Pretty basic, but when you are having trouble controlling your body temperature, help manage it with external controls. Turn up the AC at night to reduce night sweats.
Exercise regularly: Studies show regular exercise reduces the occurrence of hot flashes.
Wear cotton pajamas: They breathe better and thus are more comfortable for sleeping in. Try loose fitting, short sleeved pajamas.
Stop smoking: Smoking is shown to increase the occurrence of hot flashes. Stop smoking to help reduce hot flashes.
Choose lower thread count sheets: Sounds like the opposite of normal advice, but sheets with higher thread counts are more tightly woven, so they do not breathe as quickly. Lowering the thread count can help with air flow and keep you more comfortable at night.
Reduce stress: Occasional stress is related to hot flashes. Finding ways to relax and calm yourself, whether through meditation, yoga, or just reading a good book and drinking a glass of tea, can help cut down the regularity of hot flashes.
Practice deep breathing: Similar to occasional stress reduction, deep breathing and relaxing can help reduce hot flashes.
Eat a diet rich in soy: Increase your soy intake and you may just notice a reduction of hot flashes.
Wear layers: Since your body may not be doing a great job of regulating body temperature for you, this will allow you to help regulate it on your own.
Drink to keep body temperature down and avoid dehydration: Dehydration can increase hot flashes. Stay hydrated and use hot and cold beverages to help your body regulate temperature.
What triggers your hot flashes? Watch for triggers and avoid them.
Talk to your doctor. While many women suffer from hot flashes, there are ways to get relief. So don’t just live with the discomfort of hot flashes, do something about them!

11 Simple Tips for Preventing a Cold or Flu

11 Simple Tips for Preventing a Cold or Flu

For silver shield gel for the hands, wipes and liquid please visit http://tracy.mynsp.com these are all great can fit in the baby bag or purse and all are safe for kids even if they eat it.  the gel and liquid can be used on any part of the body.

1. WASH AND DRY YOUR HANDS REGULARLY

It goes without saying that washing your hands with soap and warm water is the most important thing
you can do to prevent getting sick. But did you know that drying your hands is just as important?
Germs cling to skin more easily when it’s wet.

2. COVER YOUR SNEEZES AND COUGHS

But don’t cover them with your hands. Instead, sneeze into a tissue, or the inside of your elbow.

3. DON’T TOUCH YOUR FACE

Cold and flu viruses enter your body through the eyes, nose and mouth.

4. EXERCISE

Aerobic exercise speeds up the heart to pump larger quantities of blood and can increase the activity
of a type of white blood cell that attacks viruses.

5. EAT GOOD FOOD

Proper nutrition provides the body with the elements it needs to fight the battle. Cut back on sugary
and fatty foods, and increase your intake of fruits, vegetables and lean protein.

6. DON’T SMOKE

Heavy smokers get more frequent and severe colds, because smoke dries out nasal passages and
destroys cilia, the hair-like fibers in your nose that sweep cold and flu viruses out of the
nasal passages.

7. CUT OUT ALCOHOL AND INCREASE WATER CONSUMPTION

Alcohol suppresses the part of the immune system that protects you from getting sick and the
part that fights germs already in your system. Instead, reach for water, which is especially important
to fight the dehydrating effects of dry winter air. Immune system cells need sufficient moisture to
work optimally.

8. SMILE AND RELAX

Research has found that happiness, laughter and pleasurable activities boost the immune response.
So participate in relaxation practices, such as meditation, and get a massage.

9. GET ADEQUATE SLEEP

While you sleep your body repairs cells and injuries from a normal day’s wear and tear. Seven to nine
hours of sleep a night allows your body to repair and heal itself and ward off infections.

10. BREAK YOUR GERMY HABITS

No double dipping in the chip and dip bowl. Or biting your fingernails. Or licking your thumb to clean
the smudge off your child’s face.

11. SANITIZE

Certain places are known germ hotspots. Clean and sanitize purse handles, door handles, stair
railings, computer keyboards, phones, toothbrushes, restaurant menus, grocery carts, gas pumps and
remote controls.

Gallbladder...and Why you need one...

Gallbladder
wood/ paired with liver

Job is to store bile/ helped by the liver.  If the liver is having issues the Gallbladder will have issues.
Western Med will scream "remove the Gallbladder" but fact is you need the Gallbladder to have quality of life.  Sorry folks but you NEED A GALLBLADDER!

If your gallbladder is removed you will need to go on a special diet to maintain quality of life. Reason why, well if the Gallbladder is removed the liver has to take up all the slack by working twice as hard to keep up with bile to break down salts and animal fats. So wish that liver luck!

If the liver has to work over time this can create too much heat in the liver.  This is just a general overview I'm not a Doctor and there is a lot more to it.

So what exactly does a gallbladder do in your body?  its energetic functions are around ligaments, tendons.

Emotions: mental, emotional, like judgement, decision making and courage.

Kidneys are in charge of drive and determination but its the gallbladders job to begin the process. you may feel compelled to do something but it is the gallbladders job to make you act on it.

This is all Chinese medicine look it up if you need to...

Emotional: Gallbladder weak -  timid low key, cant make decisions.  Flip side... If the gallbladder is overly strong you'll be bossy.. Ever heard someone say "Well he's gotta lot of gall"

Side note: Associated with sleep and sleeping patterns with a weak gallbladder you will wake up between 1-3 AM a lot and wont be able to go back to sleep.

Energetically the body sometimes wont know if the gallbladder is removed for the body so you still may wake up even if its gone.  Energy is a crazy thing!

Sports and energy drinks effects on children

Sports and energy drinks effects on Children

Some new information from the American Academy of Pediatrics has been published on the use of sports and energy drinks by children, a summary is provided below.  You can download the complete report at the bottom of this page.
Sports and energy drinks are heavily marketed to children and adolescents, but in most cases kids don’t need them – and some of these products contain substances that could be harmful to children.
In a new clinical report, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) outlines how sports and energy drinks are being misused, discusses their ingredients, and provides guidance to decrease or eliminate consumption by children and adolescents. The report, “Sports Drinks and Energy Drinks for Children and Adolescents: Are They Appropriate ?” is published in the June 2011 issue of Pediatrics (published online May 30).
“There is a lot of confusion about sports and energy drinks, and adolescents are often unaware of the differences in these products,” said Marcie Beth Schneider, MD, FAAP, a member of the AAP Committee on Nutrition and co-author of the report. “Some kids are drinking energy drinks – containing large amounts of caffeine – when their goal is simply to rehydrate after exercise. This means they are ingesting large amounts of caffeine and other stimulants, which can be dangerous.”

Sports drinks

Sports and energy drinks are different products, said Holly J. Benjamin, MD, FAAP, a member of the executive committee of the AAP Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness, and a co-author of the report. Sports drinks, which contain carbohydrates, minerals, electrolytes and flavoring, are intended to replace water and electrolytes lost through sweating during exercise. Sports drinks can be helpful for young athletes engaged in prolonged, vigorous physical activities, but in most cases they are unnecessary on the sports field or the school lunchroom.
sports-and-energy-drinks“For most children engaging in routine physical activity, plain water is best,” Dr. Benjamin said. “Sports drinks contain extra calories that children don’t need, and could contribute to obesity and tooth decay. It’s better for children to drink water during and after exercise, and to have the recommended intake of juice and low-fat milk with meals. Sports drinks are not recommended as beverages to have with meals.”

Energy drinks

Energy drinks contain substances not found in sports drinks that act as stimulants, such as caffeine, guarana and taurine. Caffeine – by far the most popular stimulant – has been linked to a number of harmful health effects in children, including effects on the developing neurologic and cardiovascular systems. Energy drinks are never appropriate for children or adolescents, said Dr. Schneider and Dr. Benjamin. In general, caffeine-containing beverages, including soda, should be avoided.
The report contains tables listing specific sports and energy drinks available today and their contents.
“In many cases, it’s hard to tell how much caffeine is in a product by looking at the label,” Dr. Schneider said. “Some cans or bottles of energy drinks can have more than 500 mg of caffeine, which is the equivalent of 14 cans of soda.”

The Scoop on buying Organic,,

The scoop on buying Organic

When referring to purchasing food, the term “buying organic” means that the food is grown in safe and healthy soil, using natural fertilizers and are free of synthetic pesticides or additives. In order for a food to be labeled “certified organic,” the land that grew the food must have been pesticide free for at least three years. The lack of chemical pesticides and additives in the soil means that there is also fewer health-harming chemicals in the food we eat. A Consumer Report study found that organic foods consistently had lower amounts of toxic pesticide residues.
Residues from pesticides and chemical fertilizers negatively impact the body because they are man-made and cannot be processed properly by the body. While there is much that is still unknown about the hazards of chemicals used in modern agriculture, common sense tells us that if a chemical is designed to kill living pests, it can’t be all that safe for living humans!
Buying organic products may not always be possible based on availably, cost, or other factors. Here is alist of the top product items to buy organically. If it isn’t possible to buy organic, always wash your fresh produce well with a simple solution that will help remove harmful pesticides from the surface of the food.buying-organic
Fruit and Veggie Wash
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 cup of water
Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle and spray your wash on all of your fruits and vegetables. Then, rinse it off. They are now ready to eat or use in cooking.

EWG's 2014 Shopper's Guide to Pesticides in Produce™

Two-thirds of produce samples in recent government tests had pesticide residues. Don't want to eat bug- and weed-killers? EWG's Shopper's Guide to Pesticides in Producehelps you shop smart. We highlight the cleanest and dirtiest conventionally-raised fruits and vegetables. If a conventionally grown food you want tests high for pesticides, go for the organic version instead. And remember - the health benefits of a diet rich in fruits and vegetables outweigh risks of pesticide exposure. Dirty Dozen™ Plus highlights hot peppers and leafy greens - kale and collard greens - often tainted with unusually hazardous pesticides.
