Are these mistakes keeping you from losing weight?
To find great meal replacement shakes with lots of protein or supplements to help with fat loss
Nothing makes my day quite like hearing that a Beyond Diet member has met their weight loss goal or changed their health for the better since joining BD, and I feel so blessed that I get to hear these stories often.
But I have to tell you - not ALL of the stories are good.
No weight loss plan works for 100% of the people 100% of the time, but I still have always wanted to understand exactly why some BD members don't succeed. I've been looking into this question a lot lately.
Want to know what I've learned?
There are 3 very common mistakes that a lot of people make that keep them from reaching their goals.
In no particular order, they are:
1. Not making it a priority
This one sounds like a no-brainer, but don't assume it's just going to naturally happen. The only way to lose weight and get healthy is to truly commit yourself to the goal. When I have a new goal in life, whether it's to get in to better shape or teach my kids Spanish or really anything else, I like to write it down on a piece of paper and post it up somewhere I can see it. I also like to spend a couple minutes each day picturing, in my mind, what it will look like and feel like when I reach my goal
These habits help keep my goals fresh in mind so that I am not only motivated, but actually excited to do the work to get there. When you make weight loss a priority and keep your goal in mind, then sticking with it becomes a whole lot easier.
2. Letting it get boring
Boredom has been the death sentence of many well-laid plans, and let's face it - we all understand why. If a weight loss plan doesn't stay exciting and fresh, then it is so hard to make ourselves stick with it. We turn to things we KNOW we shouldn't eat just to experience a little variety.
But this is the not the best way to handle the situation.
If you're feeling bored on your eating plan or exercise plan, the answer is not to give up on it - the answer is to shake it up! Get a new recipe book or ask others (like in the BD community) for some new meal ideas. Try a completely new form of exercise, or invite a friend to join you. It's up to you to spot boredom when it's creeping in and to nip it in the bud!
3. Not planning meals
This one is huge, and I know it has caused so many well-intentioned folks to fall off track or even give up altogether. The problem is that when you stop planning ahead and thinking about what you're going to eat ahead of time, you end up in situations where you inevitably must eat what's on hand. And what's on hand is not always on your healthy eating plan.
The good news is that, once you get the hang of it, planning your meals ahead of time becomes a breeze, and you learn to incorporate time-saving strategies like always having go-to items in the kitchen, using a crockpot, freezing leftovers, and looking at a restaurant's menu online before you go.
